In a bold move to strengthen its grassroots presence, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has unveiled an ambitious membership drive in Haryana's Jhajjar district, reports The Haryana Story.
National Secretary Om Prakash Dhankar announced the party's aggressive target of enrolling four lakh new members, allocating one lakh members for each of the district's four Assembly constituencies. "We approach our work with the spirit of a festival, whether it's elections or organizational expansion," Dhankar explained during the announcement.
To achieve this ambitious goal, the party has structured a comprehensive strategy:
- Mandal-level workshops scheduled from November 4 to 6
- Month-long intensive recruitment campaign
- Special 'active worker' status for those recruiting 50 new members
- Integration with state-wide target of 50 lakh new members
- Focus on all 20,629 booths with 250 members per booth target
"This isn't just about numbers," Dhankar told media. "It's about strengthening democracy at the grassroots level while preserving our cultural heritage alongside development."
The former minister, who recently contested from Badli constituency, highlighted the BJP's distinction as the world's largest political party, emphasizing its inclusive approach to politics and development.
Taking aim at the opposition, Dhankar criticized the Congress's family-centric politics and its approach to government job distribution. "While others talk about 'parchi' (recommendation) based appointments, we stand firm on merit-based selections," he asserted.
The party's ultimate goal extends beyond membership numbers, with Dhankar revealing their target of securing over 60% votes in Jhajjar district, traditionally considered a Congress stronghold.
"This membership drive represents our commitment to expanding BJP's democratic base in Haryana," a local party coordinator told The Haryana Story. "Each new member brings fresh energy and ideas to our organization."
