Former Union Minister and Congress leader Kumari Selja has raised concerns about the delayed implementation of key welfare promises made by the BJP government in Haryana. Speaking to media representatives, the Sirsa MP questioned when the promised monthly payment of ₹2,100 to women and subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500 would become a reality.
"The BJP's Lado Laxmi scheme promised monthly payments of ₹2,100 to approximately 78 lakh women aged 18-60 years," Selja stated. "However, there's no clarity on when this will begin. Similarly, the promise of providing LPG cylinders at ₹500 to benefit 49 lakh women under the Har Ghar Grihini Yojana remains unfulfilled."
The Congress leader pointed out that while the BJP had promised these benefits immediately after forming the government, women are still waiting for the implementation. She noted that the BJP's promises were similar to Congress's manifesto, which had pledged ₹2,000 monthly payments to women.
Regarding the LPG cylinder scheme, Selja explained that women would need to pay the full amount first and then receive the subsidy in their bank accounts. "The government needs to clarify when these schemes will be implemented," she demanded.
