The Haryana Story reports that Cabinet Minister Rao Narbir Singh has taken a firm stance on Gurugram's development, outlining ambitious goals for the city's future. In his first meeting with local officials since taking oath as a cabinet minister, Singh emphasized the need for rapid improvements in cleanliness, infrastructure, and traffic management.

Cleanliness and Beauty: A Top Priority

Minister Singh declared that making Gurugram a clean and beautiful city is his top priority. He stressed the importance of creating a polythene-free environment and removing encroachments to enhance the city's appeal. The minister set a challenging deadline, urging all officials to work towards making Gurugram clean and beautiful by Diwali.

Comprehensive Approach to Infrastructure Development

Singh advocated for a holistic approach to infrastructure improvement. He instructed officials to follow a specific order when upgrading roads: first clean the drainage system, then repair footpaths, and finally resurface the roads. The minister emphasized that no road improvements should be made until the water drainage system is properly functioning. He also requested written satisfaction letters from local Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) for these projects.

Traffic Management and Encroachment Removal

Addressing Gurugram's notorious traffic issues, Singh directed the police department to develop an effective action plan to make the city jam-free. He also took a strong stance on encroachment, stating that local Station House Officers (SHOs) would be held accountable if removed encroachments reappear in their areas.

Learning from Success Stories

In a move to improve Gurugram's cleanliness ranking, Singh suggested that officials should visit and learn from cities like Indore and Kota, which have excelled in cleanliness indices. He emphasized that improving the city's cleanliness index will require collective efforts from the district administration and the general public.

The minister's directives reflect a commitment to elevating Gurugram's status as a world-class city. He warned officials with poor public feedback to improve their work style and assured that no laxity in the city's development would be tolerated.
