In a historic turning point for Haryana politics, the Bishnoi family's unbroken 56-year hold over the Adampur assembly seat came to an end today. BJP candidate Bhavya Bishnoi lost to Congress's Chander Prakash by a narrow margin of 1,768 votes, marking the family's first defeat since 1968.
Emotional Farewell to a Political Legacy
The defeat's emotional weight was visible as senior BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi struggled to hold back tears while addressing party workers at the local grain market. His voice choked with emotion as supporters raised slogans showing their continued loyalty to the family. "We could not win the election by a few votes. There is no need to be disappointed. There are wins and losses in elections," Bishnoi said, trying to comfort his supporters.
A Dynasty's Record Run Ends
The loss marks the end of an extraordinary political streak that began in 1968. The Bhajan Lal family had won 16 consecutive elections from Adampur, making it one of India's longest-running political dynasties in a single constituency. Interestingly, the victor, Chander Prakash, is the nephew of former Rajya Sabha MP Ramjilal, who was once a loyal supporter of the Bishnoi family.
Looking Ahead with Grace
Despite the defeat, both father and son maintained their dignity. Bhavya Bishnoi gracefully accepted the verdict and congratulated the winner. "The people of Adampur constituency are like my family. I promise that like the last 56 years, we will continue to serve Adampur as a family," he stated. Kuldeep Bishnoi assured supporters that development work in Adampur would continue uninterrupted, emphasizing their commitment to the area regardless of electoral outcomes.
