Strong Leadership Claims Amid Voting

Casting her vote at booth number 111 in Hisar's Urban Estate, Congress veteran Kumari Selja made significant statements about her chief ministerial aspirations, asserting that "claiming the CM's post isn't a one-time affair." The AICC General Secretary emphasized her position as a senior leader whose political weight cannot be overlooked in the race for the top position.

Gandhi Family Loyalty and Party Dynamics

In a comprehensive interview, Selja addressed various aspects of party politics, particularly emphasizing her unwavering support for the Gandhi family. "I stood with them when the Gandhi family was isolated, and I will continue to stand with them. They know this," she stated. The senior leader shed light on recent organizational changes, noting that Rahul Gandhi's absence and Sonia Gandhi's reduced involvement have impacted party operations.

Response to Internal Party Challenges

Addressing allegations of dissatisfaction over ticket distribution and party positions, Selja maintained a diplomatic stance. She acknowledged that while complete satisfaction in ticket distribution is impossible, internal matters are part of party politics. Regarding former MP Ashok Tanwar's return to Congress, she philosophically remarked, "Coming and going is part of politics."

Leadership Selection Process

While emphasizing that Congress never declares its chief ministerial candidate beforehand, Selja confidently positioned herself as a strong contender. "The high command will make the final decision if Congress wins, but I cannot be ignored. My seniority, work, and political weight make me a frontrunner for the top position," she stated, highlighting her extensive political journey since 1988.

The veteran leader also addressed questions about perceived factionalism within the party, maintaining that various expectations from different communities are a natural part of politics. She emphasized that leadership decisions would ultimately rest with the party high command, while asserting her position among the top contenders.
