Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann launched a fierce attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a road show in Rewari, Haryana. Speaking to a crowd of supporters, Mann accused the BJP of betraying Haryana's youth through the controversial Agnipath scheme and criticized the party's record on unemployment and corruption.
Mann, who was campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Satish Yadav, didn't hold back in his criticism of the Agnipath scheme. "The BJP has worked to ruin the future of Haryana youth by making them Agniveer," he said. "They will be recruited at the age of 18 and retire at 22." This statement highlights the AAP's opposition to the short-term military recruitment program introduced by the central government.
The Punjab Chief Minister also addressed the pressing issue of unemployment in Haryana. Citing a central government report, Mann claimed that the unemployment rate in Haryana is five times higher than the national average. He took a jab at former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, saying, "Then Haryana Chief Minister Khattar asked the youths to join the Russian army."
In contrast, Mann boasted about his own government's achievements in Punjab. "I have given 45,000 government jobs in two and a half years," he stated. He also claimed that the AAP government had facilitated private sector employment for three lakh youth in Punjab and ten lakh in Delhi under Arvind Kejriwal's leadership.
The campaign event saw enthusiastic support for the AAP, with supporters showering flowers on Mann and chanting slogans like "Badlenge Haryana ka hal, ab laayenge Kejriwal" (We will change Haryana's situation, now we'll bring Kejriwal).
Mann's visit to Rewari is part of AAP's efforts to expand its influence in Haryana, building on its successes in Delhi and Punjab. By focusing on issues like unemployment and criticizing the BJP's policies, the party hopes to appeal to voters dissatisfied with the current government.
