Anil Vij Stakes Claim To Be Haryana 's Chief Minister

Former Home Minister challenges BJP's decision, promises to transform Haryana if given the top position, while party backs current CM Nayab Saini for upcoming assembly elections.

Former Home Minister Anil Vij

In a surprising turn of events, Anil Vij, the former Home Minister of Haryana and current BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt, has openly staked his claim for the Chief Minister's position. This bold move, reported by The Haryana Story, has stirred up the political scene in the state just months before the assembly elections.

During a press conference on Sunday, Vij listed his achievements as a legislator and minister. He then dropped a bombshell, saying, "People from all over Haryana are coming to me. Wherever I go, people ask why I'm not the Chief Minister despite being in a senior position. Based on these people's demands and my seniority, I will stake my claim to become the Chief Minister."

Vij's Senior Status and Promise of Change

Vij emphasized his senior status within the party and his potential to bring about significant changes. "If the party makes me the Chief Minister, I will change Haryana's destiny and image," he declared. This statement highlights his confidence in his abilities to lead the state effectively.

The former minister also pointed out that he had never asked for any position before. "Until today, I never asked for any post, but today I'm staking my claim," Vij said, underlining the significance of his current stance.

BJP's Current Leadership and Vij's Dissatisfaction

The BJP recently replaced Manohar Lal Khattar with Nayab Saini as the Chief Minister of Haryana. This decision reportedly upset Vij, who was seen as a potential candidate for the top job. His dissatisfaction was evident in several party meetings following the leadership change.

Adding to the political drama, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier indicated that the BJP would contest the upcoming assembly elections with Saini as their face. This statement seems to have prompted Vij's public claim for the Chief Minister's position.

Vij's History with Chief Minister Aspirations

This isn't the first time Vij has been in the running for the Chief Minister's post. In 2014, when the BJP won a majority in Haryana, Vij was considered a strong contender along with Ram Bilas Sharma and Om Prakash Dhankar. However, the party surprisingly chose Manohar Lal Khattar for the position.

The Haryana Story will continue to follow this developing situation as it unfolds. Vij's claim has certainly added an interesting twist to Haryana's political landscape, potentially impacting the BJP's strategy for the upcoming elections.

As the state moves closer to the assembly polls, all eyes will be on how the BJP leadership responds to Vij's bold move and how it might affect the party's electoral prospects in Haryana.
