The Haryana Story brings you the latest development in the state's political landscape as former BJP minister Karan Dev Kamboj makes a significant move to the Congress party. This shift comes in the wake of the BJP's decision to deny Kamboj a ticket for the upcoming Assembly elections.

On Friday, Kamboj officially joined the Congress in New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by key Congress figures, including the party's state president Udai Bhan and former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. This move marks a notable change in Haryana's political dynamics.

Kamboj's decision to switch parties stems from his disappointment over not receiving BJP tickets for either the Radaur or Indri constituencies. In a bold statement, he declared his intention to work towards defeating BJP candidates in both these areas. He has already thrown his support behind Rakesh Kamboj, the Congress candidate for Indri.

The former minister's grievances with the BJP began when the party announced its first list of candidates. Kamboj, who was serving as the state president of the BJP's OBC Cell, promptly resigned from his position. His main contention was the party's decision to field Shyam Singh Rana, a former MLA, from the Radaur seat. Rana had previously left the BJP in 2019, spending nearly five years with the INLD before recently rejoining the BJP.

Kamboj didn't mince words in his criticism, accusing the BJP of giving a ticket to a 'traitor'. He urged the government to reconsider its decision. Despite efforts by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, who personally visited Kamboj to address his concerns, the rift couldn't be mended.

This political shift underscores the internal tensions within the BJP's Haryana unit and highlights the challenges parties face in managing ticket distribution and keeping senior leaders satisfied. As the election approaches, Kamboj's move to the Congress and his promise to campaign against his former party could potentially influence the outcomes in key constituencies.
