Nitesh Kumar, a talented badminton player from Haryana, has scripted a remarkable success story by winning a gold medal at the Paris Paralympics. This achievement is a testament to his unwavering dedication, unrelenting passion, and unbreakable spirit.
Born in Nandha village in Haryana's Charkhi Dadri district, Nitesh's life took a dramatic turn in 2009 when he lost his leg in a train accident. However, this tragic incident did not shatter his dreams. Instead, it fueled his determination to pursue his passion for badminton.
With the support of his family and coach, Nitesh began his journey in para-badminton. His hard work and perseverance paid off when he won a bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games, followed by a silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.
Nitesh's golden victory at the Paris Paralympics is a culmination of his years of struggle and sacrifice. He defeated Great Britain's Daniel Bethell in the men's singles SL3 final, securing a 21-14, 18-21, 23-21 win.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini congratulated Nitesh on his achievement, saying, "Haryana's son Nitesh Kumar has made the country proud by winning a gold medal in men's singles SL3 - badminton at the Paris Paralympics. Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for this golden achievement."
