In a recent development in Haryana's political scene, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked for a change in the state's election date. The party wants to move the voting day, which is currently set for October 1, 2024.

The BJP says they're worried about how many people will come to vote. This is because there are many holidays around October 1. The party thinks that if people have several days off in a row, they might go on trips instead of voting.

Mohan Lal Badoli, the head of BJP in Haryana, explained why they want to change the date. He said, "October 1 is a Tuesday. It's a holiday because it's voting day. The weekend before is also off. Then, October 2 and 3 are holidays too. If someone takes a day off on September 30, they'll have six days of holiday. This might make fewer people vote."

The BJP suggested moving the voting day to October 8. They think this will help more people vote. But the Congress party, which is the main opposition in Haryana, doesn't agree. They say the BJP is just trying to delay the election because they're afraid of losing.

Bhupinder Singh Hooda, a top Congress leader in Haryana, said, "We're fine with the original date. The Election Commission already told everyone when the election would be. Political parties have started getting ready. People want to vote out the BJP government, and they won't miss this chance."

The BJP is also worried about a big event for the Bishnoi community on October 2. Many Bishnoi people from Haryana go to Rajasthan for this event every year. The BJP thinks this might affect voting in some areas where many Bishnoi people live.

Now, everyone is waiting to see what the Election Commission will do. They're the ones who decide when elections happen. They announced the October 1 date back in July, along with other important dates for the election process.

This disagreement shows how important election dates can be for political parties. Each party wants the date that they think will help them the most. In the end, it's up to the Election Commission to decide what's best for a fair election where as many people as possible can vote.
