The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially begun its campaign for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections with a major rally in Kurukshetra. The event, dubbed the 'Vijay Shankhnaad' rally, saw Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini making several farmer-friendly announcements that could shape the electoral landscape in the state.

In a move that could significantly impact Haryana's agricultural community, CM Saini declared that the state government would procure all crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP). This expands on the current policy where only 14 crops are procured at MSP. "It has been decided to procure the remaining crops on MSP too," Saini stated, potentially providing a safety net for farmers growing a wider variety of crops.

Another major announcement was the waiver of Rs 133.55 crore in outstanding 'abiana' - charges on canal water supplies for irrigation. This decision is expected to provide an annual relief of Rs 54 crore to Haryana's farmers. The Chief Minister also promised to release pending crop loss compensation worth Rs 137 crore for several villages in Rohtak, Nuh, Fatehabad, and Sirsa within a week.

The rally saw the BJP leadership taking aim at the opposition Congress party. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan challenged the Congress to compare its 10-year rule with that of the BJP, claiming that while the BJP government was focused on non-stop development, the Congress had "put a full stop on development during its rule."

CM Saini addressed the Congress's "Haryana Mange Hisaab" (Haryana Demands Accountability) campaign, asserting that the BJP government has been giving 'hisaab' (account) to the people of Haryana every year. He contrasted the BJP's "mission mode" of governance with what he termed as the Congress's "commission mode" of working.

The event also highlighted some internal dynamics within both parties. While Union Minister Manohar Lal was present at the rally, he did not address the gathering as scheduled. On the other hand, Pradhan questioned the Congress's leadership in Haryana, asking who would be their next "chaudhary" (leader).

As reported by The Haryana Story, this rally marks a significant moment in Haryana's political calendar. The BJP's promises and criticisms of the opposition set the stage for what is likely to be a fiercely contested election. The focus on farmer-friendly policies suggests that agricultural issues will be at the forefront of the campaign.

The announcements made at this rally, particularly those related to MSP and water charges, could have far-reaching implications for Haryana's farming community. As the election season heats up, all eyes will be on how these promises translate into action and how the opposition responds to the BJP's opening salvo in the electoral battle for Haryana.
