The fifth day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament on Friday, July 26, saw Hisar MP Jayaprakash JP bringing attention to several crucial issues concerning Haryana's development during the Lok Sabha budget discussion. The MP's address covered a range of topics, including the long-delayed Hisar Airport, healthcare facilities, and transportation projects.
Hisar Airport: A Tale of Multiple Inaugurations
One of the most pressing issues raised by Jayaprakash JP was the status of Haryana's only airport in Hisar. The MP pointed out that the airport has been inaugurated eight times, yet it remains non-operational. He expressed frustration over the lack of clarity regarding the type of airport being constructed, stating, "Sometimes it's said to be a cargo airport, sometimes international, and sometimes national. The people of Hisar are being misled in the name of the airport."
Healthcare Concerns: Downsized Cancer Center and Delayed AIIMS
Jayaprakash JP also highlighted two significant healthcare projects facing setbacks:
1. Cancer Research Center: The MP revealed that while the Haryana government provided over 300 acres of land for a cancer research center, the NDA government at the center has halved the project's scope.
2. AIIMS Rewari: He criticized the seven-year delay in the establishment of AIIMS in Rewari, stating that nothing beyond laying a foundation stone has been accomplished.
Transportation Projects: RRTS and Rail Coach Factory
The MP brought attention to two major transportation projects that have seen little progress:
1. Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS): Jayaprakash JP mentioned that the RRTS rail project, planned to connect Delhi to Hisar and Panipat, has received no funding under the NDA government.
2. Rail Coach Factory: He questioned the status of the promised rail coach factory in Sonipat, which was expected to generate employment for the youth.
Other Concerns: Doordarshan Kendra and MSP Committee
The MP also raised concerns about the closure and relocation of the Doordarshan Kendra from Hisar to Chandigarh. Additionally, he criticized the government for not including farmer representatives in the committee formed to discuss Minimum Support Price (MSP) issues.
Jayaprakash JP concluded by stating that the budget favors the wealthy, saying, "This budget has been made for the rich, and I strongly condemn it."
These pointed questions and criticisms highlight the perceived gap between promises made and their implementation in Haryana. The MP's address brings to light several development projects that have either been delayed, downsized, or seemingly abandoned, raising concerns about the overall development trajectory of the state.
As the parliamentary session continues, it remains to be seen how the government will respond to these issues and what steps, if any, will be taken to address the concerns raised by the Hisar MP regarding Haryana's development projects.
