The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is set to launch its campaign for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections with a significant event on July 20, 2024. Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, will spearhead the campaign kickoff in Panchkula, Haryana.

In a townhall meeting, Mrs. Kejriwal will announce the 'Kejriwal Ki Guarantee' for Haryana, outlining the party's promises and vision for the state. This move comes as AAP aims to expand its political footprint beyond Delhi and Punjab, where it currently holds power.

The event will see the presence of several high-profile AAP leaders. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, AAP's national general secretary (organization) Sandeep Pathak, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh will accompany Mrs. Kejriwal, demonstrating the party's united front in this electoral endeavor.

This campaign launch is particularly noteworthy as it comes at a time when Arvind Kejriwal is in judicial custody related to an excise policy case. In his absence, his wife Sunita has stepped up to take a more active role in the party's political activities. She has previously campaigned for AAP candidates in Delhi, Haryana, and Gujarat during the recent Lok Sabha polls.

The decision to contest all 90 Assembly seats in Haryana, as announced by AAP last Tuesday, signals the party's ambitious plans for the state. However, AAP faces significant challenges in Haryana, where it has yet to achieve electoral success despite contesting several previous elections.

In the May 2024 Lok Sabha polls, AAP's performance in Haryana was disappointing, with its state president and Kurukshetra candidate Sushil Gupta losing to BJP's Naveen Jindal. This upcoming Assembly election campaign represents a renewed effort by AAP to establish a strong presence in the state.

The choice of Panchkula for the campaign launch is strategic, given its proximity to both Punjab and Chandigarh, where AAP has a stronger base. The party hopes to leverage its governance model in Delhi and Punjab to appeal to Haryana voters.

As AAP embarks on this new political journey in Haryana, all eyes will be on Sunita Kejriwal and the promises she unveils on behalf of the party. The success of this campaign could potentially reshape the political landscape of Haryana and mark a significant expansion of AAP's influence in North India.
