The ongoing political turmoil in Haryana took a new turn as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini dismissed concerns about his government's stability and expressed confidence in winning a trust vote. His remarks came in response to former Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala's move to seek a floor test, claiming that the ruling coalition had lost its majority.
Speaking at an event to mark the birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap, Saini firmly stated that his government had sufficient numbers to prove its majority. "We have sufficient numbers of MLAs and are ready for the floor test," he said, questioning Chautala's claim to have the support of all his party's legislators.
In a counter-offensive, Saini challenged Chautala, asking, "Does he have the numbers? I won the floor test, and if required, I will do it again." The Chief Minister accused the opposition Congress party of attempting to mislead the people and topple the government after being rejected by the voters.
Saini's confidence in his government's stability stemmed from his belief in the development work carried out by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at both the state and national levels. During his public meetings, he highlighted the inclusive development approach adopted by the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government, which he claimed had benefited all sections of society.
"The previous Congress government discriminated in development and focused only on Rohtak, but the BJP government has done inclusive development with a vision of 'Haryana Ek, Haryanvi Ek' (One Haryana, One Haryanvi)," Saini asserted, expressing confidence in the BJP's prospects of winning all 10 Lok Sabha seats and the Karnal Assembly seat in the upcoming elections.
Saini praised the Khattar government's efforts in promoting good governance, transparency, and merit-based employment opportunities, in contrast to the alleged practices of the previous regime. He claimed that the Haryana government had become a role model across the country for its governance.
As the political battle intensifies, Saini's unwavering stance underscores his determination to weather the crisis and retain power. The Chief Minister's counter-offensive against Chautala and the Congress party sets the stage for a high-stakes confrontation in the Assembly, where the true strength of the ruling coalition will be tested.
