In a bold move, senior Congress leader and former minister Karan Dalal has threatened to revolt against his party. Dalal, who was eyeing the Faridabad Lok Sabha seat, has made it clear that he won't be anyone's slave and will decide his future course of action at a 'Mahapanchayat' (grand gathering) scheduled for April 29. The disgruntled leader has asserted that for him, the region holds more importance than the party.

Dalal had been lobbying for the Faridabad Lok Sabha ticket for a long time. However, the Congress party chose to field former minister Mahendra Pratap instead, leaving Dalal deeply disappointed. He expressed his frustration, saying that he had been preparing for the elections for two years and had expected to be nominated.

"Ticket distribution is subject to the parties' own compulsions, but no party is bigger than any region; it's the region that is bigger than parties," Dalal said, making his stance clear. He added that parties should respect the stature of his region.

The Decision at the Mahapanchayat

Dalal informed that a 'Mahapanchayat' will be held on April 29 in Jharsaintly village, covering both Palwal and Faridabad districts. The gathering will decide the future course of action, determining whether he should contest the elections or stay within the party and support the Congress candidate. "Whatever decision the 'Mahapanchayat' takes, it will be accepted wholeheartedly," Dalal stated, emphasizing the importance of the grand gathering.

No Immediate Departure from Congress

Despite his apparent displeasure with the party's decision, Dalal has not yet severed ties with the Congress. He clarified that he is still a part of the party and will abide by the decision taken at the 'Mahapanchayat'.
