Early Beginnings in Badminton

Kuhoo Garg started playing badminton at the young age of 9. She quickly became a rising star, winning 56 national/All-India rankings and 19 international medals. She excelled in both women's doubles and mixed doubles, reaching a world ranking of 34 in mixed doubles.

Injury Setback and Career Change

In the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kuhoo sustained a knee injury during the Uber Cup trials. The injury, which included an ACL tear, required surgery and a lengthy recovery period. Realising she wouldn't be able to compete for nearly a year, Kuhoo made the bold decision to pursue the civil services.

Cracking the UPSC Exam

With the support of her family and friends, Kuhoo dedicated herself to the UPSC preparation process. After a failed attempt in 2022, she emerged victorious in her second attempt, securing the 178th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2023. She became the first female sportsperson of international repute from India to achieve this goal.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Kuhoo's journey from the badminton court to the halls of civil service serves as a testament to the power of determination and resilience. Her story inspires aspiring athletes and civil servants alike, proving that one can reinvent themselves and achieve greatness, even in the face of adversity.
