In a significant move aimed at enhancing livestock welfare and supporting cattle rearers across Haryana, CM Manohar Lal Khattar flagged off 70 livestock ambulances valued at Rs 11.20 crore. This initiative, launched on the second day of the 40th State Livestock Exhibition, underscores the state's commitment to elevating its livestock sector.

Speaking at the event, CM Khattar emphasised Haryana's distinguished position in the national and international arenas due to its livestock industry. He highlighted the commencement of A-2 pasteurised milk marketing from indigenous cows, a testament to the state's unique contributions to the dairy sector.

Recognizing the financial challenges faced by cattle rearers, CM Khattar announced the issuance of Livestock Kisan Credit Cards to meet capital requirements. With banks approving 1.56 lakh such credit cards and disbursing over Rs 2,000 crore to cattle rearers, the initiative aims to provide vital financial support to the livestock community.

Furthermore, the government has introduced a special scheme offering financial assistance and animal insurance to cattle rearers. Under the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Collective Livestock Insurance Scheme, around 10.42 lakh animals have been insured in the state. Owners can avail insurance cover for big animals for Rs 100 to Rs 300 and small animals for Rs 25, with Scheduled Caste cattle owners benefiting from free insurance coverage.

Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Jai Prakash Dalal lauded the exhibition as a platform for farmers to familiarise themselves with the latest agricultural technologies. Additionally, the event recognized top-performing cattle owners in the state's milk production competition, highlighting their contributions to the dairy sector's growth.

Key achievements included Karambir from Sunarian (Kurukshetra) securing the first place in Murrah milk production, followed by Babulal from Mundi (Rewari). Satbir Singh from Bahabalpur (Hisar) and Vineet Kamboj of Radaur (Yamunanagar) were also honoured for their remarkable milk production achievements.

With these initiatives, Haryana aims to bolster its livestock sector, ensuring the welfare of animals and providing crucial support to cattle rearers in the state.
