PM Modi to lay foundation stone of AIIMS Rewari in majra village on 16th feb.

On February 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone  for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) hospital project in Majra Balkhi village in Rewari. Union minister and member of parliament for Gurugram Rao Inderjit Singh made this announcement on Thursday. He also mentioned that a big public gathering will take place in Majra village for the occasion, and plans are now underway for the inaugural ceremony. “The AIIMS project will transform healthcare in south Haryana and people from neighbouring Rajasthan will also benefit immensely from this medical facility. I met PM Narendra Modi during the current parliamentary session and invited him to lay the foundation stone of this project and he agreed to it,” said the gurugram MP.

The AIIMS hospital in Rewari is the 22nd project of its kind that the Union government is establishing nationwide. The project will cost ₹1,231 crore to build and take up 210 acres of land. It was during a rally held in Bawal in July 2015, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal had announced the construction of AIIMS in Manethi village. For this, more than 210 acres of land was given by the Panchayat of Manethi. This announcement remained stuck in the files for many years.

The villagers of Manethi struggled for AIIMS for almost a year. After that, before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the Central Government had announced the construction of AIIMS in Manethi in the interim budget, but in the meanwhile, the Forest Advisory Committee raised objection on the land of Manethi, terming it as forest area. Due to the objection of the Environment Department, this land was canceled. After this, the villagers of adjacent Majra village offered land for AIIMS. Along with the Panchayati land, the government also acquired the land of the village farmers. Notably, the giant of construction industry in India, Larsen & Toubro won the tender for constructing the first AIIMS in south haryana. And finally after years of struggle, PM Modi will inaugurate the first AIIMS on the same land from which he started his groundbreaking 2014 general election campaign.
