In a demonstration against unemployment, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) staged a protest in the Karnal district of Haryana on Wednesday. The party blamed the Manohar Lal Khattar government for not giving the state's youth enough work. The demonstrators intended to "gherao" Chief Minister Khattar's home in Karnal, but the police prevented them by sending out a huge number of officers and setting up barricades. After failing in their attempt to break through the barricades, some AAP employees crouched on the road.Later, a few more protestors as well as the party's senior leaders in Haryana were taken into custody by the police. Sushil Gupta, the head of the AAP in Haryana, earlier attacked the BJP-JJP alliance for failing to provide jobs for the young of the state during a speech to a group.

The AAP leader Sushil Gupta yesterday, while talking to media stated that, “ As the government is not able to give jobs, it was sending 10,000 youths to war-torn Israel to work there as labourers and it was very shameful,”. Today, Gupta said that, despite two lakh posts lying vacant in various government departments, the Khattar dispensation was not filling them. Anurag Dhanda, senior vice president of the Haryana AAP, also criticised the state administration and claimed that the chief minister had pledged to create 50,000 employment by 2023.

However, he said, the government did not provide even 1,000 employment in the previous year. While talking to the reporters yesterday, Sushil gupta also said that "The AAP supports the youth of the state. We are going to 'gherao' the chief minister's house in Karnal on February 7 as part of a state-wide protest,”. However, replying to a question on AAP’s election strategy for upcoming assembly elections in haryana, Gupta said, AAP will contest on all the 90 seats of the state and regarding to the Lok Sabha elections, he said, the party will take the decision in upcoming days that if it will fight the election alone or in alliance with other parties.
