The Haryana Congress Election Committee and Political Affairs Committee underwent significant changes with the approval to include AICC secretaries in both committees by the All India Congress Committee (AICC). The decision, communicated through a letter issued by Haryana Congress Party in-charge Deepak Babaria, aims to enhance the role of AICC secretaries in the state.
Before the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Haryana, the Congress High Command had announced four committees: Discipline Action Committee, Political Affairs Committee, Pradesh Election Committee, and Election Manifesto Committee. The committees, particularly the first three, were empowered by the Hooda camp in Haryana. However, the SRK Group of Haryana Congress, including Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, and Kiran Choudhary, were also included in two of these committees.
The newly formed Pradesh Election Committee, responsible for election-related matters, is led by Uday Bhan, the state unit's president. The committee comprises former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Kiran Choudhary, Deepender Singh Hooda, and Raghuvir Singh Kadian. In Political Affairs, the committee with 51 members, including 24 leaders and 4 PCC members, was formed under the chairmanship of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The committee's chief is AICC in-charge for the state, Deepak Babaria. The party's state president, Uday Bhan, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala, Kiran Choudhary, Deepender Singh Hooda, Raghuvir Kadian, Aftab Ahmad, and Captain Ajay Yadav are part of this committee.
This overhaul is part of the Congress High Command's efforts to streamline and strengthen the party in Haryana ahead of crucial elections.
