Former Member of Parliament (MP) from Sirsa, Ashok Tanwar, dealt a blow to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Haryana by resigning from the party. Tanwar, a prominent Dalit leader, expressed dissatisfaction with AAP's alignment with the Indian National Congress. In his resignation letter to AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal, Tanwar stated that his ethical stance prevents him from continuing as the Chairman of the Election Campaign Committee for AAP Haryana.

Tanwar, who had joined AAP in April 2022, emphasized his commitment to the state of Haryana and the nation, pledging to work for their betterment. A seasoned politician, Tanwar was previously associated with the Congress, where he served as the president of the Haryana Congress. He had a significant falling out with former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, leading to his exit from the Congress in 2019.

This resignation marks another setback for AAP in Haryana, following the departure of former minister Nirmal Singh and state unit vice-president Chitra Sarwara last month. Tanwar's decision underscores the challenges AAP faces in retaining key leaders in the region.

Before his stint with AAP, Tanwar briefly joined the Trinamool Congress. Known for his close association with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the past, Tanwar's political journey has witnessed shifts in allegiance and party affiliations. His departure from AAP adds a new chapter to his dynamic political trajectory.

The development raises questions about the evolving political landscape in Haryana and the dynamics of party alliances ahead of crucial elections. Tanwar's next political move will be closely watched, as it may influence the regional political scenario.
