Gurugram Crackdown Uncovers 128-Room Illegal PG Complex in DLF Phase-3

One of the biggest violations found so far as authorities seal gym, restaurant and dozens of unauthorised rooms

The Department of Town and Country Planning Enforcement (DTPE) has uncovered one of the largest illegal paying guest (PG) operations during its ongoing crackdown in Gurugram's DLF Phase-3.

On the second day of the sealing and demolition drive, officials discovered 128 illegally operated PG rooms inside a linked building complex on Nathupur Road. The action was led by District Town Planner Amit Madholia.

According to officials, two adjoining buildings—Nathupur Road-34 and Road-34A—had allegedly been merged and converted into a single commercial complex in violation of approved building norms.

During the inspection, authorities sealed a gym operating in the basement and a kitchen-cum-restaurant running from the stilt floor. All 128 PG rooms spread across the first, second, third and fourth floors were also sealed.

Officials described it as the single largest violation detected during the day's enforcement action.

Questions Over Selective Enforcement

The discovery has reignited a debate over why the crackdown remains largely concentrated in DLF Phases 1 to 5 while similar violations are allegedly widespread in HSVP sectors and other private colonies under the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).

Several Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) have demanded equal action across the city, arguing that complaints regarding illegal stilt-plus-four constructions, unauthorised PG accommodations and commercial misuse of residential properties have remained unresolved for years.

Residents claim that enforcement should not be limited to DLF areas alone and have urged authorities to extend inspections and sealing drives to other parts of Gurugram where similar violations continue unchecked.

The DTCP's enforcement campaign is being carried out under directions related to curbing illegal constructions and misuse of residential properties. Officials have indicated that the drive will continue in the coming days.
