In a significant boost to healthcare and medical education in Rewari district, the under-construction AIIMS at Majra has been cleared for 50 MBBS seats, paving the way for academic work to commence soon.
Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh confirmed that the Central government has cleared the initial intake for the institute and that the MBBS classes will commence soon.
The institute, which will be the 22nd All India Institute of Medical Sciences in the country, is being developed along NH-11 and is steadily progressing to become operational soon.
The recruitment of staff for administrative positions has already been initiated with initial advertisements being put out by AIIMS Delhi. The process for other technical and non-technical positions is also under way.
It has been stated that over 1,700 jobs would be created at the institute. This would be a significant development in terms of creating jobs in the area. However, the approvals for these jobs are still awaited by the Finance Ministry. Efforts in this regard are being made.
The project is expected to cost approximately ₹1,700 crores. The hospital would have 750 beds once it is fully functional. It was also stated that the appointment of doctors was essential to commence the services in the OPD. This is being done. More appointments would also be made in the near future.
The new AIIMS would help in the development of healthcare services in the southern parts of Haryana.
