In a major development in the Delhi blast investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday brought arrested terror suspect Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish to Al-Falah University in Faridabad for on-spot verification and reconstruction of events linked to the case.
According to sources, the NIA team reached the university campus around 6 pm, escorting Bilal in handcuffs. His face and head were covered with a black cloth during the operation. The exercise, which lasted for nearly two hours, was conducted under tight security, with the Faridabad Police also present. The entire process was videographed as part of procedural documentation.
During the visit, Bilal reportedly disclosed locations where explosives were refined and terror activities were planned. The NIA team first took him to the room of Dr Umar, the prime accused in the Delhi blast case, where detailed questioning and identification were carried out. He was later taken to another room on the second floor and subsequently to the staff quarters, where further disclosures were made.
Sources said Bilal revealed that planning meetings were held in Mujammil’s room, where he allegedly assisted in processing and refining explosive material. Investigators believe these locations were used as operational bases prior to the Delhi blast.
Bilal, a resident of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, was pursuing his second year of studies at a university before getting involved in terror activities. He was also working as a junior resident doctor in paediatrics at Al-Falah University and its associated medical college. It was during this campus stay that he came into contact with Dr. Umar Nabi, after which both allegedly became involved in extremist activities.
But investigations have uncovered that he used to provide technical aid to Dr Umar for conducting terror attacks. Before the Delhi blast, he is found to have tried to develop altered drones and rockets. All this shows that he has future plans of conducting bigger and more advanced terror attacks.
Security agencies have revealed that revelations achieved during the on-site investigation will be vital in enhancing the case as well as unearthing the masterminds behind the plan. Further investigation is still ongoing.
