Operation Trackdown: Police Arrest 2,165 Criminals in Nine Days Across Haryana

Major success includes nabbing Rohit Godara gang member; 438 hardcore interstate offenders jailed

Representational Image

Operation Trackdown of Haryana Police has yielded excellent results in the first nine days, as the law enforcement agency arrested 2,165 criminals, including wanted and absconding offenders in serious crimes, throughout the state. The statewide campaign launched under the leadership of DGP OP Singh has sent a loud and clear message to the criminal underworld.

Major Breakthroughs

The Bahadurgarh unit of the Special Task Force achieved a major success by arresting Manoj alias Chotiya, an active member of the notorious Rohit Godara gang carrying a reward of Rs 10,000. Manoj was wanted in multiple serious cases, including attempted murder registered at Narnaul police station.

On December 5, 2024, Manoj carried out a deadly attack on Amit, a member of the rival gang, in the Narnaul court complex. After months of searches, the STF arrested him on November 13. He faces seven serious cases, including attempted murder (Section 307 IPC), assault, rioting, and criminal conspiracy at the Ateli, Narnaul, and Mandawa police stations. A case under the Arms Act has been registered against him.

 Long-Term Fugitives Captured

The operation's reach extended beyond organized gangs to individual offenders. Sirsa police, under SP Deepak Saharan's leadership, arrested Joni, an accused carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 who had been evading capture for almost four years in a murder case from August 2024.

Joni, resident of Nathaur village in Rania police station area, kept changing his identity and locations in Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana. A team of Sub-Inspector Sandeep Kumar arrested him from Sardarpur in Rajasthan's Hanumangarh district based on sustained intelligence efforts.

Systemic Approach

DGP OP Singh emphasized that Operation Trackdown delivers a clear message to criminals: "either give up crime or be ready to go to jail." Of the 2,165 arrests, 438 involve notorious hardcore interstate offenders engaged in heinous crimes including robbery, dacoity, and attempted murder.

A crucial component involves opening history sheets on habitual offenders. As of November 13, police opened 118 history sheets, including 23 hardened criminals on that day alone. These sheets enable constant surveillance, preventing released offenders from committing further crimes after securing bail. The DGP confirmed Operation Trackdown will continue with full strictness until crime is completely eradicated from Haryana.
