BJP national secretary and former minister Om Prakash Dhankar has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's allegations of vote tampering, calling them "baseless" and "politically motivated."
Speaking at the Tiranga Yatra in Jhajjar on Tuesday, Dhankar defended the Election Commission's integrity. "The Election Commission is a constitutionally empowered and highly competent institution that works with transparency. Every complaint is addressed as per rules and within time," he said.
Dhankar suggested that instead of making false political statements, Rahul Gandhi should approach the Election Commission directly if he has genuine concerns about electoral processes. He emphasized that anyone who damages constitutional institutions cannot be considered patriotic.
Historical Accusations Against Congress
The BJP leader made serious historical allegations against Congress, claiming the party has a long record of manipulating public sentiment and elections. He accused Congress of emotionally exploiting voters after former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's death in 1991 to win elections.
Dhankar also made controversial claims about India's first Prime Minister selection. "After Independence, people wanted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to become PM, but Congress, through political manipulation and vote theft, handed the post to Jawaharlal Nehru," he alleged.
Criticism of Congress Organization
Commenting on Congress's internal issues, Dhankar said opposition parties like Congress cannot organize themselves effectively. He referenced Karnataka politics, claiming that when a Congress minister exposed their "false vote theft narrative," the party removed him from his position.
"This is nothing short of dictatorship," Dhankar said, criticizing Congress's handling of dissenting voices within the party. His remarks came during the Tiranga Yatra, where he emphasized the importance of respecting constitutional institutions and democratic processes in the country.
