Haryana Police Going High-Tech: Advanced Weapons and Technology Upgrade Approved

State Government Sanctions Initial ₹22.09 Crore Budget as First Phase of Ambitious ₹150 Crore Comprehensive Modernization Plan for Law Enforcement

The Haryana Police force is set to undergo a major technological transformation following a crucial meeting of the State Level Empowered Committee (SLEC) chaired by Dr. Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department.

The committee has greenlit a ₹22.09 crore modernization plan for the 2025-26 financial year that will equip officers with sophisticated weaponry and cutting-edge investigation tools. This initial funding is just the beginning of a larger ₹150 crore modernization initiative announced in this year's state budget. 

"Our government is committed to ensuring a safe environment for all residents of Haryana," Dr. Mishra stated during the meeting. "Modernizing our police force is essential not only for crime prevention and investigation but for building a technically proficient, community-friendly law enforcement system."

The approved equipment package includes advanced firearms such as new pistols and CQB machine guns, alongside state-of-the-art forensic technology. Police will soon have access to image and video enhancement software is facial recognition systems, next generation, DNA sequences, advanced polygraph equipment as well as specialized microscopes for forensic examination.

13 districts have transition from outdated communication system to modern digital networks and remaining districts will be upgraded soon.

Dr Mishra has directed the formation of specialised task force to suggest long-term structural changes that will help the police force in future . She instructed the officials to consult domain experts and submit a comprehensive proposal within a month.

The modernization is not limited to the new tools and gears, but the police personnel will also get specialized training to use the technology effectively. the goal is to prevent crime, faster investigations and well trained police force.
