Kaithal Man Keeps 14-Year Promise, Wears Shoes After Meeting PM Modi

Emotional encounter at Yamunanagar rally ends barefoot journey of Rampal Kashyap that began in 2010 when he pledged to wear footwear only after Meeting Narendra Modi as PM

Rampal Kashyap's 14-year barefoot journey ended when PM Modi personally met him at a Yamunanagar rally.

A 14-year vow came to fruition on Monday when Rampal Kashyap, a 55-year-old resident of Kaithal district, finally met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Yamunanagar and wore shoes for the first time in over a decade.

The devoted follower had pledged in 2010 that he would not wear footwear until he personally met Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. In a touching gesture, the Prime Minister not only met Kashyap but also gifted him a pair of shoes and helped him wear them.

"I never imagined that the Prime Minister would meet me like this. Today, my dream of meeting the Prime Minister was fulfilled and I am very thankful to him," said an emotional Kashyap after the encounter.

According to sources, the meeting was arranged through the intervention of a senior BJP leader from Kaithal, who helped facilitate the encounter at the rally.

Throughout his 14-year barefoot journey, Kashyap had endured extreme weather conditions, from scorching summers to freezing winters. Despite numerous offers of footwear from concerned individuals, he remained steadfast in his vow.

The Prime Minister later shared the experience on social media, writing: "I met Shri Rampal Kashyap Ji of Kaithal at the public meeting in Yamunanagar today. He had taken a vow 14 years ago that he would only wear shoes after I became Prime Minister and he got to meet me."

Modi also used the opportunity to convey a broader message about such displays of devotion: "I respect their love. They should try to use their energy for something bigger like helping others or building the nation."

For Kashyap, the brief interaction represented the culmination of years of patience and dedication. As he stood wearing the shoes gifted by the Prime Minister himself, a remarkable chapter of personal devotion came to a close.
