Congress's Strategic Move for Upcoming Elections

In a significant political development, the Congress party has decided not to allocate any Lok Sabha seats in Haryana to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as part of the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance.

No Seat-Sharing with AAP in I.N.D.I.A. Alliance

Congress, aiming to defeat the BJP, has formed the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance, uniting over 28 political parties across the country. The decision not to share seats with AAP in Haryana is based on specific parameters, including the parties' performance in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Reiteration of 2019 Performance Criteria

The Congress has established clear criteria for seat-sharing, particularly focusing on constituencies where their candidates secured the second position in the 2019 elections. Such seats will not be shared with any other party, reaffirming Congress's resolve to contest all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana.

Recalling BJP's 2019 Sweep in Haryana

The move comes after BJP's clean sweep in all 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana during the 2019 elections, with Congress candidates securing the second position across the state. In response, Congress has taken a decisive step to field its candidates in all Haryana constituencies.

Seat-Sharing Parameters Nationwide

Apart from Haryana, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has outlined seat-sharing arrangements in multiple states. Congress plans to contest on all 20 seats in the Northeast and Union Territories, emphasising its commitment to field candidates in various states, including Assam, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and more.

Rahul Gandhi's Justice Yatra and Deadline for Seat-Sharing

As Congress gears up for the 2024 elections, party leader Rahul Gandhi's nationwide "Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra" is set to commence from Manipur. The party aims to finalise seat-sharing discussions with political allies in the I.N.D.I.A. Alliance before Rahul Gandhi embarks on his journey on January 14.

Screening Committee for Haryana Candidate Selection

Congress has established screening committees for shortlisting potential candidates across states, with Bhakt Charan Das leading the committee responsible for Haryana. These committees will play a crucial role in selecting candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Haryana Congress Leaders Silent on AAP Seat Sharing

Despite the strategic decisions at the national level, there seems to be a lack of discussion among Haryana Congress leaders regarding seat-sharing with AAP. Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda confirmed the absence of talks on seat allocation with AAP during a meeting on January 5.
