President Murmu Urges Students to Become Job Creators, Not Job Seekers

President Draupadi Murmu visits Guru Jambheshwar University in Hisar, awards degrees to graduating students, and praises the increasing number of female graduates while emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship.

President Draupadi Murmu visited Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology in Hisar, Haryana for its convocation ceremony. During the event, she distributed degrees to graduating students and delivered an inspiring speech focusing on entrepreneurship and women's achievements in education. 

In her address, President Murmu expressed joy at seeing the growing number of women contributing to the nation's development. She noted that more than 60 percent of the degree recipients were women, and 75 percent of medal winners were female students. "I appreciate these daughters and their families for this achievement," she said. 

Encouraging Entrepreneurship Among Students

The President urged students to change their mindset from seeking employment to creating jobs. "Don't be job seekers, become job providers," she advised. She specifically addressed the large number of students from rural backgrounds attending the university, encouraging them to motivate people in their villages to pursue quality education. 

President Murmu also spoke about Guru Jambheshwar Maharaj, describing him as a great saint and philosopher who advocated scientific thinking and ethical lifestyle. "Guru Jambheshwar believed that protecting nature and showing compassion to all living beings is a moral responsibility of humans. His teachings remain very relevant today," she added. 

The President expressed satisfaction that over its 30-year journey, the university's students and faculty members have achieved many important research accomplishments.

Degrees and Medals Awarded at the Ceremony

During the ceremony, 561 PhD degrees were awarded to researchers for work completed between February 9, 2018, and December 31, 2024. 

Additionally, 326 students from UTD and the former engineering and management colleges received medals. The university also presented medals to 149 students from affiliated degree, law, and education colleges who graduated between 2017 and 2023. 

Traditional Haryanvi and Rajasthani Cuisine for the President

After the ceremony, President Murmu had lunch at the university's VIP Guest House. She enjoyed local Haryanvi and Rajasthani dishes like ghee churma, millet khichdi, and ker sangri vegetable.

Heavy security was in place for her visit. About 2,000 police officers, including 10 IPS and 26 DSPs, were on duty. All vehicles were checked carefully before entering campus, and nearby roads were briefly closed when the President arrived.
