Representational Image

Good news for electricity consumers in Haryana as the state government rolls out a significant initiative under the Prime Minister's Suryaghar Yojana. Starting with Faridabad and Palwal districts, the scheme aims to install 27,000 solar energy connections, bringing substantial power bill relief to thousands of households. This program will provide free electricity to consumers through rooftop solar installations. The government will offer a subsidy of ₹78,000 for solar connections up to 3 kilowatts, making solar energy accessible to many more families across these districts.

Extensive Coverage Planned

The implementation plan has been carefully mapped out across both districts. Faridabad, being the larger industrial hub, will get the lion's share with 19,435 connections, while neighboring Palwal is allocated 7,625 connections. Officials have designed this split to ensure both city dwellers and village residents can benefit from the solar revolution.

The scheme will be rolled out extensively in the upcoming financial years, potentially transforming how these districts consume electricity. Local authorities are already setting up information centers to help residents understand the application process and benefits.

Substantial Monthly Savings

A 3-kilowatt solar energy connection will generate approximately 450 units of electricity every month for consumers. This output is sufficient to cover most or all of the electricity needs of an average household, resulting in significant reductions in monthly electricity bills.

The total cost for setting up a 3-kilowatt solar system comes to about ₹1,60,000, but here's the good part – the government is stepping in with a hefty ₹78,000 subsidy. This brings your out-of-pocket expense down to roughly ₹82,000, putting solar power within reach for many more Haryana families.
