The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially launched its manifesto for the upcoming municipal corporation elections in Haryana. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini presented the document at the BJP's Mangal Kamal state headquarters in Rohtak on Monday.
The BJP is approaching these municipal elections with the same strategy and enthusiasm as assembly elections. Their manifesto reflects the "Haryana Ek-Haryanvi Ek" (One Haryana-One Haryanavi) vision and includes promises for development even in constituencies where BJP doesn't have elected MLAs.
The manifesto includes financial assistance for street vendors and hawkers, creation of model parks with special facilities for disabled people, and modern auditoriums in municipal bodies.
Special Focus on Women's Welfare
The manifesto places strong emphasis on women's welfare. BJP has promised to build pink toilets equipped with sanitary napkin vending machines and infant feeding rooms which shows the party's understanding of women's needs. Women homeowners will receive a 25% discount on house tax, a move that has been widely appreciated. These steps will widely benefit women across the state.
Property Rights and Tax Relief
One of the biggest announcements in the manifesto is granting ownership rights to people who have occupied homes and land for more than 20 years. The party has also promised to simplify house tax in agricultural areas and villages.
"We will legalize unauthorized colonies that were left out during previous regularization drives," promised CM Saini. This move is expected to bring relief to thousands of homeowners across the state.
The party has also promised tax relief for homes freed from acquisition land and special consideration for residents of unauthorized colonies that exist between already legalized areas.
Urban Development and Essential Services
BJP's resolution includes comprehensive plans for urban development with promises of:
- Free sewerage and water connections
- Setting up online service centers at every booth
- Doubling the number of street lights
- Installing solar panels on rooftops of poor families
- Running electric buses
- Modernizing cremation grounds with "Swarg Rohini" vehicles
"We will solve drainage problems, install sewage treatment plants, build modern libraries for students, and improve sanitation systems," stated the manifesto. The party has also promised to address parking problems and construct stronger roads.
Congress Falling Behind Again
The BJP has claimed that Congress is lagging in its election campaign, just as it did during the assembly elections. Chief Minister Saini mentioned during a public meeting in Rohtak that Congress has become merely a "tweet party" and that 30-40 year old Congress workers are joining BJP, indicating Congress's weakening position.
While Congress released its own election manifesto recently, BJP officials claim their manifesto is more comprehensive and addresses every section of society including youth, farmers, poor families, students, and sanitation workers.
As the election approaches, BJP appears confident that its manifesto will pave the way for victory and further development across Haryana.
