The scam came to light when an MBBS student from a private college filed a complaint with evidence, including a video showing students rewriting answer sheets on beds and chairs under university staff supervision. The perpetrators charged between Rs 3-5 lakh per subject to guarantee passing grades.
Immediate Administrative Action
Dr HK Aggarwal, the Vice-Chancellor, took swift action following the investigation report:
- Examination Controller Dr Amrish Bhagol removed from position
- Six regular employees suspended, from clerk to deputy superintendent level
- Six outsourced staff members' services terminated
- Previous action against two regular employees (Roshan Lal and Rohit) and three outsourced staff (Deepak, Indu, and Reetu)
Investigation Details and Methodology
A three-member committee headed by Dr MK Garg, Director of Kalpana Chawla Medical College, Karnal, uncovered the elaborate scheme:
- Students used erasable ink pens during examinations
- Answer sheets were erased using hair dryers outside campus
- Textbooks were used to rewrite answers
- University staff provided supervision during illegal rewriting
Current Status
The latest action includes suspension of regular employees Jai Prakash, Kapil Dev, Navdeep, Sandeep, Anil, and Sanjeev. Outsourced employees Rohtas, Sunil, Naseeb, Pardeep, Gurmeet, and Jai Bhagwan have also faced termination. All were associated with the university's examination branch.
