Haryana Shatters 14-Year Heat Record in February 2025

As temperatures soar to 29.4°C in Balsamand and 28.4°C in Hisar, residents experience April-like conditions in February, breaking the previous record set in 2011; meteorologists predict relief with upcoming cold winds.

Haryana is witnessing an unusual weather pattern this February with temperature is increasing gradually throughout the month. In the month of February, the residents are experiencing summer like condition typically associated with April. The extreme sunshine during the day has created uncomfortable condition for many while the mornings and evenings are still slight chilly.

Balsamand recorded a maximum temperature of 29.4°C while Hisar reach 28.4°C in February 2025. These temperature recordings have broken the 14 year old record previously set on February 10, 2011. This extreme rising temperature has caught the tension of metrologist and climate experts across the state . 

According to the forecast of Dr Madan Lala Khichad, head of Agricultural Metrology Department at Haryana Agricultural University, cold winds are expected to blow from the north and north-west directions starting February 12. This weather phenomena could lead to decrease in the temperature during the night which will bring some relief to the residence .

This shocking weather pattern have affected daily life across the state. People typically expect moderate temperature in February, but many have to adjust their schedules to cope up with the heat. The impact of this unusual weather will be the highest on the agricultural community who are concerned about the impact of this waether on their winter crops and soil moisture levels. The predicted cold winds may help maintain the required temperature balance for crops in the coming days.
