Chief Minister Lauds Impressive Performance

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, overseeing the Finance Department, commended the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department for a substantial increase in Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection.

Haryana's Exceeds National Average

While the country experienced a 10.3% YoY increase, reaching Rs 1,64,822 crore in overall GST revenue for December 2023, Haryana outperformed with a remarkable 22% growth. The state's gross GST collection for December 2023 stood at Rs 8,130 crore, surpassing the national average.Noteworthy positive growth was observed in neighbouring states as well: Himachal Pradesh (5%), Punjab (8%), Delhi (16%), and Jammu and Kashmir (20%).

Khattar Optimistic about Economic Development

CM Khattar expressed optimism, stating that the surge in GST collection not only mirrors economic advancement but also signifies promising prospects for overall development. He aims for sustained growth to elevate Haryana's economic and financial stature.

Excise and Taxation Department's Efficiency

The Excise and Taxation Department achieved 80% of the total budget target for the fiscal year 2023-24 within the initial three quarters, reflecting its efficiency.

Robust Figures Despite Budget Estimate

With a total budget estimate of Rs 57,931 crore for the year, the department collected Rs 46,349 crore by December 31, 2023, showcasing robust figures despite budget estimates.

Haryana's Consistent Top Ranking in GST Collections

Haryana consistently ranks among the top five states in GST collections, exhibiting the highest growth rate among major states in November 2023.

Breakdown of Collection

The collection breakdown includes Rs 29,235 crore in State Goods and Services Tax (SGST), reflecting a 16.5% increase, Rs 8,533 crore in Excise, showing a 15.6% increase, and Rs 8,581 crore in Value Added Tax (VAT).

The robust growth in GST collection significantly exceeding the national average underscores the effectiveness of Haryana's economic policies and tax administration, as highlighted by a government spokesperson.
