In a move to counter Arvind Kejriwal’s comments over the poisonous water of Yamuna, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini visited the Yamuna river near Dahisara village on Wednesday. During the visit, Chief Minister Saini offered ceremonial prayer followed by drinking water directly from the river, aiming to demonstrate its safety for consumption.
Nayab Singh Saini, while talking to the media after his visit said that Kejriwal has failed to fulfil the promises he made to Delhi’s resident over the last 10 years. He falsely claimed that Yamuna‘s water is toxic and created an atmosphere of fear and distress among the people. Saini recalled how Kejriwal stood near the Yamuna river and promised to clean it but no action was taken. Along with this, Kejriwal blamed Haryana, sometimes for subtle burning and other times for water pollution without any provident facts.
Water samples from the Yamuna at Haryana’s border showed no toxic substances according to recent reports from the Water Authority of India and the Pollution Control Board. On the other hand, Chief Minister claimed that ₹8500 crore had been allotted to Delhi government specifically for water purification and sewage treatment projects.
After the Haryana CM visit to Yamuna river, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that Saini had not actually consumed the water, but instead spat it back into the river Kejriwal stood straight on his stand on the presence of danger ammonia contamination in the Yamuna river expressing concern for Delhi’s residence safety.
Haryana government official stated that Haryana State Pollution Control Board report on 28th January indicated water quality parameters were below detection limit for harmful substances in the Yamuna river.
