Anil Vij Demands Apology from Congress President Over Mahakumbh Comments

Minister criticizes Mallikarjun Kharge's remarks about Ganga dip ritual and confronts Delhi CM Kejriwal over Yamuna pollution allegations in a heated political exchange.

Minister Anil Vij

Haryana's Energy, Transport and Labor Minister Anil Vij has demanded a public apology over Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge's comments about taking a dip in the Ganga. While speaking to the mediapersons today, Vij expressed deep concern over Kharge's remarks, stating that mocking BJP leaders for participating in Mahakumbh rituals amounts to insulting the entire Hindu community.

Minister Vij highlighted how Indian society embraces diverse forms of worship and emphasized on the importance of religious tolerance. "Our society respects various ways of practicing faith," he explained, noting that some devotees pray facing east, others south, and some prefer meditation while others engage in active worship. He stressed that those unfamiliar with religious practices should refrain from making dismissive comments.

Comment Over Yamuna Pollution

The minister also addressed the ongoing dispute over Yamuna River pollution, directing sharp criticism at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Vij accused Kejriwal of attempting to deflect responsibility for Delhi's environmental challenges onto Haryana. "Despite governing Delhi for a decade, Kejriwal has failed to address the Yamuna's pollution issues," Vij stated, emphasizing that cleaning Delhi's portion of the river remains the city administration's responsibility.

Minister Vij particularly took issue with what he described as Kejriwal's pattern of blame-shifting. He characterized the Delhi Chief Minister's allegations against Haryana as an attempt to distract from his administration's shortcomings in environmental management. The minister's comments highlight the growing tension between the two neighboring regions over environmental responsibilities.
