
Rao Narbir Singh was born in a political family on April 2, 1961 in Gurgaon. Rao Narbir's grandfather, Rao Mohar Singh Yadav, served as an MLC in pre-partition Punjab in 1942, while his father Mahavir Singh Yadav was a cabinet minister in Haryana. This heritage laid the foundation for Rao Narbir 's career in public service. His understanding of grassroots politics was laid by his education at Delhi's prestigious Hindu College, combined with his early entry into public service as a Sarpanch of Village Gairatpur Bass in 1983.
Youngest Home Minister Ever
Narbir Singh created history by becoming the youngest Home Minister in Haryana under Chief Minister Devi Lal's government in 1987 at just 26 years old. He began his political journey with victory from the Jatusana constituency, where he defeated veteran politician Rao Inderjit Singh. Rao Narbir has also served as Transport, Food & Supply and Cooperation Minister in 1996 during Bansi Lal's government, showcasing his administrative capabilities across diverse portfolios. He was Cabinet Minister (2014–19) in BJP Government for Department of Public Works (B&R) and Department of Public Health Engineering (Water Supply and Sanitation).
Perseverance and Political Comeback
Rao Narbir faced a setback in 2019 when BJP denied him ticket, Narbir Singh maintained his connection with the public and continued his social work. His consistency paid off well in 2024 Assembly Elections as he secured party ticket and won with a great margin of 60,705 votes against Congress candidate Vardhan Yadav. The victory of Narbir Singh in 2024 assembly elections demonstrates his hard work and strong public support.
Rao Narbir's Vision for Sustainable Development
Narbir Singh has outlined a comprehensive development agenda as Minister for Industries, Commerce, Environment, Forest and Wildlife, Foreign Cooperation, and Sainik Welfare. His recent initiatives include a massive infrastructure push in Gurugram with five new flyovers and elevated roads worth ₹1300 crore and plans to develop Gurugram as an education hub through CSR initiatives. Narbir Singh also focuses on environmental conservation with increased green cover and pollution control measures across the state. Minister strives to promote sustainable industrial development and gives special attention to ex-servicemen welfare programs.
Infrastructure Champion
Narbir Singh has been instrumental in driving infrastructure development throughout his career. In his current term, he has already initiated several key projects like an elevated road connecting Delhi-Gurgaon expressway to Vatika Chowk (₹750 crore) and setting a January 31 deadline to clear encroachments on a 12 km stretch. Rao Narbir has initiated five new flyovers between Vatika Chowk and Ghata (₹550 crore) and plans for community centers and public facilities in various sectors.
