CM Announces New Budget Plans to Boost Small Farmers' Income

Chief Minister Nayab Saini conducts pre-budget consultation meeting at Hisar's Agricultural University, promises special focus on small landholders and organic farming initiatives while seeking suggestions from farmers and FPO members.

Chief Minister Nayab Saini

Chief Minister Nayab Saini has announced comprehensive plans to transform the agricultural landscape of Haryana, with a special focus on small farmers who make up 70% of the state's farming community. During a pre-budget consultation meeting held at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar,  CM emphasized that the state's double-engine government is working continuously for farmers' upliftment.

Empowering Small Landholders Through Innovation

The government is developing special strategies to support farmers with smaller landholdings. "Our goal is to increase farmers' income and make them financially prosperous," stated CM Saini. The administration is exploring various options, including e-mandis and alternative farming methods, to ensure small farmers can generate substantial income despite limited land resources.

Focus on Crop Diversification and Organic Farming

During the meeting, Saini encouraged farmers to do crop diversification instead of traditional farming methods. He cited successful examples like strawberry cultivation in Syahadwa, Hisar, and kinnow farming in Sirsa. The government is also promoting organic farming, drawing inspiration from Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat's initiatives.

The CM highlighted significant improvements in road and rail connectivity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership over the past decade. These developments have made it easier for farmers to transport their produce to markets, addressing a long-standing challenge in the agricultural sector.

Public Participation in Budget Planning

The state government has created an online portal where citizens, progressive farmers, and FPO representatives can submit their suggestions for the 2025-26 budget. The meeting saw participation from over 52 progressive farmers and agricultural experts in the first session, followed by discussions with FPO federation members.
