Haryana Leads Major States with 28% GST Growth in December 2024

With collections reaching Rs 10,403 crore, state ranks fourth nationally in GST revenue; achieves 73% of annual target within nine months as total collections hit Rs 46,188 crore.

Haryana has achieved a significant milestone in its tax collections, recording the highest growth rate among major states with a 28% increase in GST revenue for December 2024. The state collected Rs 10,403 crore, securing its position as the fourth-largest contributor among India's 28 states and 8 union territories.

Comprehensive Revenue Performance

Between April and December 2024, the state's Excise and Taxation Department reported impressive collection figures across various tax categories:

  • Total net collection: Rs 46,188 crore  
  • VAT and CST: Rs 8,812 crore
  • Excise duty: Rs 9,527 crore
  • SGST: Rs 27,849 crore 

Progress Towards Annual Target

The state has already achieved 73% of its ambitious annual target of Rs 63,348 crore for the financial year 2024-25, demonstrating strong fiscal management. According to government officials, this performance reflects not only successful tax reform policies but also indicates robust economic growth across the state. 

The achievement is particularly noteworthy as it positions Haryana as a leading state in tax compliance and collection efficiency. Government spokespersons emphasize that this growth in revenue collection signifies broader economic progress and development across the state, highlighting the effectiveness of their tax administration policies and economic strategies.
