Haryana Government Announces Historic Land Rights Program for Rural Residents

Residents occupying Gram Panchayat land for over 20 years to receive ownership rights; comprehensive survey underway to provide plots to 5 lakh eligible beneficiaries.

Haryana Development Minister Krishan Lal Panwar announces a significant initiative granting ownership rights to long-term occupants of Panchayat land and unveils plans to provide plots to underprivileged families across urban and rural areas. Those residents who have built houses between 100-500 square yards on Gram Panchayat land and occupied them for over 20 years will receive ownership rights.

Excluded Properties

The properties built on ponds, periphery roads, or agricultural land are excluded from this scheme. The aim of Haryana Government behind this scheme is Government aims to formalize ownership status of existing long-term residents in the rural areas. Strict and clear guidelines has been established to prevent misuse of agricultural and protected lands.

New Plot Allocation 

A massive survey is currently ongoing to identify 5 lakh eligible beneficiaries for plot allocation in Haryana. The scheme promises to provide varying plot sizes to different categories of residents - 30 square yards for urban residents, 50 square yards for Mahagram (large village) residents, and a generous 100 square yards for rural residents. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini is set to launch first phase of this project in new year, marking a significant step towards providing housing for all. 

Integrating Housing Schemes

Haryana Government will direct transfer of Rs 1 lakh to eligible beneficiaries in villages without available land. The government is going to integrate the scheme with Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana for comprehensive housing support. The government has reaffirmed its commitment to construct houses for eligible poor and vulnerable families, providing them with a secure and stable place to call home. 

In order to promote transparency and accountability, the government is actively working on clearing previous pending registries, ensuring that all documentation is proper and up-to-date.
