Congress Leader Kumari Selja Meets Farmer Leader Dallewal

The General Secretary of the All India Congress and Member of Parliament from Sirsa Lok Sabha constituency, Kumari Selja met farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal on Monday at the Khanauri border. The visit highlighted the critical situation at the Khanauri border, where farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has been on a hunger strike for 28 days.

Despite deteriorating weather conditions and health concerns, no representative from the BJP government has reached out to address the farmers' concerns or initiate dialogue.

Border Restrictions

Selja highlighted several concerning issues after her visit to Khanauri border. Selja criticised the creation of an "India-Pakistan like" atmosphere at state borders and heavy restrictions preventing farmers from reaching Delhi. The protesting farmers are forced to endure harsh winter conditions and rain. Complete absence of government initiative for dialogue with the farmers is a significant concern.

The Congress leader emphasized the government's failure to fulfill previous commitments as there is no progress on legal guarantee for Minimum Support Price (MSP). There are broken promises from previous farmers protests and lack of implementation of agreed-upon demands. The farmers have to again come out for agitation due to government inaction.

The situation continues to escalate as farmers face both natural hardships and governmental restrictions while seeking to have their voices heard in the national capital.
