Congress Admits Wrong Ticket Distribution Led to Defeat in Haryana Elections

Internal Conflicts, Weak Candidates, and Alleged EVM Tampering Blamed for Party's Poor Performance in State Assembly Polls.

In a candid admission, Deepak Babaria, the Haryana Congress in-charge, has openly discussed the party's defeat in the recent Assembly elections. Speaking in Delhi during a committee meeting, Babaria pinpointed multiple factors contributing to the Congress's poor performance.

The most significant revelation was the party's problematic ticket distribution, particularly on 10-15 crucial seats. Babaria candidly stated that groupism and internal factionalism prevented the selection of strong candidates, ultimately costing the party a potential government formation.

Allegations of Electoral Manipulation

Babaria made serious allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering, claiming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) committed "daylight robbery" during the elections. He revealed receiving a WhatsApp message on counting day predicting the exact seat distribution, which remarkably matched the final results.

"The BJP stole seats where the margin would have been more than 50 percent," Babaria asserted. He claimed manipulations occurred in 15 seats and suggested that without these alleged irregularities, Congress could have secured 65 seats instead of the 37 they ultimately won.

Leadership and Organizational Challenges

The Congress leader also criticized internal party dynamics, including senior leaders projecting themselves as potential Chief Minister candidates during the campaign. He emphasized that a weak party organization significantly contributed to their electoral defeat.

Babaria, who has submitted his resignation (currently pending with the high command), remains committed to the party. "I am the Congress party's soldier," he stated, indicating his continued dedication despite the electoral setback.

Future Legal Battles

The party is not accepting the defeat quietly. A fact-finding committee, including Karan Singh Dalal, has been formed to investigate the election results. They have filed 16 legal petitions and believe their legal challenge could potentially destabilize the new government before 2025. This comprehensive report provides an in-depth look at the Congress party's introspection following their Haryana Assembly election defeat, highlighting internal challenges and external allegations that shaped their electoral performance.
