Hooda: "Haryana doesn't even have 24 crop varieties"

Congress Leader Demands Legal Guarantee for Minimum Support Price and Questions Chief Minister's Statements on MSP for 24 Crops.

In a strong political statement, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has launched a robust critique of the current Haryana government's agricultural stance. Speaking alongside Hisar MP Jai Prakash and Sonipat's Satpal Brahmachari, Hooda expressed unwavering support for the farmers' march to Delhi while challenging the state government's claims about crop support.

Challenging the 24 Crop Narrative

The former Chief Minister directly challenged Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's assertion about providing Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 24 crops. Hooda pointedly questioned the claim, stating emphatically, "Haryana doesn't even have 24 crop varieties." He demanded that the Chief Minister list these supposed 24 crops, highlighting what he sees as an empty political promise.

Key Demands and Criticisms

Hooda's primary demands include:

  • Legal guarantee of MSP for farmers
  • Transparent accounting of crop support
  • Meaningful dialogue between government and farmers
  • Recognition of farmers' fundamental rights

The Congress leader emphasized that paddy farmers are not receiving adequate MSP, and without a legal guarantee, farmers will continue to struggle. He criticized the current approach, arguing that in a democracy, everyone's voice must be heard and respected.

Political Implications

Responding to CM Saini's earlier statement suggesting farmers should protest in Congress-ruled states, Hooda asserted that implementing MSP is a central government responsibility. He highlighted several critical issues:

  • Lack of DAP (Di-Ammonium Phosphate) fertilizer supply
  • Potential upcoming urea shortage
  • Inadequate support for agricultural communities

The critique comes at a crucial time when farmers are preparing for a massive march to Delhi, seeking recognition of their rights and economic support. Hooda's intervention adds significant political weight to the ongoing agricultural movement.
