PM Modi to Lay Foundation Stone for Maharana Pratap Horticulture University in Haryana

On the upcoming foundation stone laying ceremony, Haryana's Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Minister Shyam Singh Rana revealed exciting plans for the new Maharana Pratap Horticulture University (MHU). The event, scheduled for December 9, will be graced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, marking a significant moment for agricultural education in the state.

The university's name is a deliberate tribute to Maharana Pratap, a legendary freedom fighter respected nationwide and globally. Minister Rana personally proposed naming the institution after this iconic warrior, emphasizing the importance of connecting educational institutions with national heroes.

In a compelling address, Minister Rana highlighted critical challenges in traditional farming. He stressed the need to move beyond wheat and paddy cultivation, which he argues are causing environmental strain and minimal farmer profitability. The minister advocated for promoting millets and diversifying crop patterns to address water scarcity and potential health risks associated with conventional farming.
