The Haryana government has taken significant steps to empower marginalized communities, announcing groundbreaking reforms that promise to transform lives across the state. During the Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti celebrations, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini unveiled a comprehensive package of social welfare measures.
Job Reservation Breakthrough
In a landmark decision, the Haryana government has reserved 20% of government job quotas for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates. Additionally, 10% reservation has been allocated for other disadvantaged sections of society. This move aims to provide substantial employment opportunities to historically marginalized communities, ensuring greater social inclusion and economic empowerment.
Sanitation Workers Get Salary Boost
Recognizing the critical role of sanitation workers, the government has significantly improved their financial conditions. The monthly salary for sanitation workers will increase from ₹16,000-17,000 to ₹26,000-27,000 – a remarkable ₹10,000 increment. Furthermore, the state has established the Haryana State Sanitation Workers Commission to safeguard their interests and ensure their welfare.
Educational Scholarships Expanded
The Chief Minister has also announced substantial educational support for students. Government engineering colleges will now provide full scholarship coverage for SC students. Moreover, the OBC (Creamy Layer) scholarship has been increased from ₹6 lakh to ₹8 lakh, demonstrating the government's commitment to educational accessibility.
These initiatives reflect the Haryana government's comprehensive approach to social welfare, targeting multiple dimensions of economic and educational empowerment for marginalized communities.
