"But before pointing fingers at others, look at yourselves": Hooda's take on "Babu-Beta" taunts

Emotional Hooda recalls family's freedom struggle legacy - grandfather's imprisonment in Andaman, father's multiple jail terms, and his own journey from Block Committee Chairman to Chief Minister, while responding to 'Babu-Beta' taunts in Haryana Assembly

In a passionate response to critics of dynastic politics, former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda defended his family's political legacy during a recent Assembly session. His remarks came after facing repeated "Babu-Beta" (father-son) taunts from opponents regarding his son Deepender Hooda's active role in state politics.

Family's Freedom Fighter Legacy

"I take pride in my family," declared Hooda, revealing that his grandfather was a freedom fighter who, along with Shaheed Bhagat Singh's uncle Ajit Singh, was sentenced to imprisonment in the Andaman Islands (Kala Pani). He emphasized that his father was imprisoned eight times - four times in Pakistan and four times in India - and was among the 283 signatories of the Indian Constitution.

From Grassroots to Chief Minister

Recounting his own political journey, Hooda shared how he started as a Block Committee Chairman before rising through the ranks. "I worked my way up from the grassroots, serving as MLA, MP, Leader of Opposition thrice, and ultimately becoming Chief Minister," he stated, challenging accusations of entitled dynasty politics.

Response to Political Rivals

Addressing his critics, including CM Nayab Saini and JJP leader Dushyant Chautala, Hooda pointed out apparent contradictions within their own parties. "Look at your own party - some are ministers, some hold other positions. I bear no jealousy; I bless them all. But before pointing fingers at others, look at yourselves," he remarked.

The controversy emerged during the recent Haryana elections, where despite Congress's strong campaign under Hooda's leadership, BJP secured 48 seats in the 90-member assembly, while Congress managed 37 seats. The former CM's comments have now gone viral on social media platforms.
