The Bhajan Lal family, facing their first electoral setback in Adampur after nearly six decades, has returned to their political roots with renewed determination. Kuldeep Bishnoi and his son Bhavya have embarked on a comprehensive three-day thanksgiving tour, reaching out to voters across 54 villages in their traditional stronghold.
The intensive outreach program, which covers more than half the constituency's villages, represents the family's efforts to maintain their political relevance despite the recent electoral defeat. During their village-to-village campaign, both father and son are engaging directly with residents, analyzing the reasons for their unexpected loss.
"Our family doesn't need official positions to serve Adampur," declared Bhavya Bishnoi during a village gathering. "With BJP governments both at the center and state, we continue to wield influence and can ensure your work gets done." The young leader emphasized that their ability to serve the constituency remains undiminished despite the electoral setback.
The constituency's demographic composition reveals why this outreach is crucial. Out of approximately 1.78 lakh voters in Adampur:
- 94,940 male voters
- 93,708 female voters
- 55,000 Jat voters
- 28,000 Bishnoi community voters
- 29,000 other OBC voters (including 8,200 Jangra and Kumhar voters)
The historic defeat came at the hands of Congress candidate Chandra Prakash, a former IAS officer and nephew of Ramji Lal, once a close associate of Chaudhary Bhajan Lal. The margin of defeat was merely 1,768 votes, making it even more significant for the family that had held the seat since 1967.
The emotional impact of the loss was evident when Kuldeep Bishnoi broke down while addressing supporters at their ancestral home in Adampur Mandi after the results. The scene prompted supporters to raise slogans of "Chaudhary Bhajan Lal Amar Rahe," showing the deep emotional connect the family maintains with the constituency.
The Congress party's strategic selection of Chandra Prakash proved crucial in breaking the Bhajan Lal family's hold. Despite Bhavya Bishnoi's previous victory in the by-election two years ago, the Congress managed to create inroads among both Bishnoi and OBC voters, traditionally loyal to the Bhajan Lal family.
