In a developing story reported by The Haryana Story, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has once again turned its attention to former Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhoker. On Friday evening, ED officials conducted a raid at Chhoker's residential premises in Samalkha, Haryana. However, Chhoker was not present at his home during the operation, which continued late into the night.
This recent raid is not an isolated incident. The ED has previously conducted similar operations at Chhoker's properties in March and July of this year. These actions have led to the registration of cases against both Chhoker and his son. While Chhoker himself has not been arrested, his son is currently in judicial custody following his arrest by the ED.
The investigations surrounding Chhoker extend beyond personal matters. He has been embroiled in controversy regarding Mahira Homes, a real estate company in Gurugram where his son serves as a director. The Gurugram police have registered a case against the company's directors, associate companies, and authorized signatories. The allegations involve the submission of forged and fabricated plans related to licenses obtained in 2022 and 2023. Adding to the company's troubles, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has already cancelled Mahira Homes' license.
Chhoker's political career has seen its ups and downs. He first won an MLA seat in 2009 on a Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) ticket before joining the Congress party. After losing in 2014, he made a comeback in 2019, winning the Samalkha seat for Congress. Known as an ally of former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chhoker's political fortunes took a hit in the recent Assembly elections when he lost to BJP's Manmohan Bhadana by a margin of 19,315 votes.
