The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a significant boost in Haryana as three Independent MLAs, including India's richest woman Savitri Jindal, announced their support for the party. This development comes just one day after the BJP secured 48 seats in the state assembly elections.

Big Names Join BJP's Camp

The three Independent MLAs - Savitri Jindal from Hisar, Devender Kadyan from Gannaur, and Rajesh Joon - met with senior BJP leaders Dharmendra Pradhan and Biplab Kumar Deb in New Delhi to formalize their support. This meeting marks a significant political realignment in Haryana's political landscape.

From Rebels to Supporters: The Political Journey

Interestingly, two of these MLAs - Savitri Jindal and Devender Kadyan - were former BJP rebels who contested independently after being denied party tickets. The third, Rajesh Joon, was a Congress dissident who won impressively against the BJP candidate with a margin of 41,999 votes.

Profile of the New Supporters

Savitri Jindal, who defeated Congress' Ram Niwas Rara by 18,941 votes in Hisar, brings significant political weight to the BJP. As the widow of industrialist OP Jindal and a former minister in the Congress government, her support adds both symbolic and practical value to the BJP's position.

Devender Kadyan emerged as a giant-killer by defeating Congress veteran and former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma by 35,209 votes. His background as an entrepreneur and current role as national vice-president of the Wrestling Federation of India adds diverse representation to the BJP's support base.

Rajesh Joon, who had unsuccessfully contested in 2014, proved his political mettle this time by winning as an Independent candidate after the Congress chose to renominate its sitting MLA.

"I want development for Hisar and want it to become a beautiful city, for this I extend my support," stated Savitri Jindal, emphasizing her commitment to local development. The other two MLAs cited the clear public mandate in favor of BJP as their reason for extending support.
